Firstly, during the L'oreal Fashion Fest, on a public access night, it become obvious that graphic designers and fashion designers are markedly different. So much so, that when I invited one of my mates along to enjoy the free beer at the LMFF bar, assumptions were made, pretty much reflected in the random musings seen across the world at Drivl. Sure, when you're with fashion models and beauty therapists, assumptions can be made, but the game can be played. This is one instance where social, professional and networking opportunities can merge. By being available at these sort of events, alliances and networks can be built up over a beer or few, pretty much like South By Southwest. It also extends the business field of vision beyond any apparent niche it owns and provides feedback on what is happening outside of their 'community'.
Secondly, during Art 07, it is suprising to see the quality of art available to the wider public, instead of having to shell out excessive cash. This mentality actually fosters more growth of artists as all artistic work needs to start somewhere. Without a professional pedigree in what you do, you have no chance of assuring your clientele that your work will do what it delivers. As a result of these two events, Absalom Media will be conducting some online marketing tests in regards to search relevance over the next month, both to publically test the credibility of the superior web technology developed by Absalom Media and to see what is required to gain a significant foothold inside a niche market in the online marketplace. Expect some interesting posts..
